Racewalking Australia Events - 2008

Racewalking Australia sponsors a number of events each year. Further information about these events can be obtained from your race walking club. All entries are coordinated by the local clubs and then sent off to the organising club. You must be a member of one of the member clubs to compete in any of the Racewalking Australia events on offer in this list.

There will be of course the two annual carnivals (Canberra in June and Melbourne later in the winter season) as well as 100 km championships for men and women in April in Melbourne. There will also be a further Challenge event following on from the very successful stagings of the last 4 years.

RACEWALKING AUSTRALIA CARNIVAL
MELBOURNE

This second yearly carnival rotates between the member clubs and is normally held in the second half of the winter season. VRWC has nominated to conduct this event and has been given permission hold it alongside the 2008 Australian Roadwalking Championships. This is very much a trial offering. If it proves successful, then the way is open for this to become a regular scheduling in the winter fixture.

Individual medals will be awarded by Athletics Australia and Teams medals will be awarded by Racewalking Australia. Hence this event is to be seen as an Australian Championship meet from an individual perspective but a Racewalking Australia meet from a Teams perspective.
