42nd Lake Burley Griffin Race Walking Carnival, 8 June 2008, Canberra
The annual Lake Burley Griffin Carnival is held each June in Canberra, the capital of Australia. This is the main event for Racewalking Australia and has a strong team emphasis. The carnival this year saw 335 entries, an all time record. There are Racewalking Australia championship events for age groups from Under 10 through to Masters.
The 20 mile race is held on the Sunday morning on a tough hilly course around the lake while the other Championship events are held on the Sunday afternoon. All events are road events.
Once
again
a Peter Waddell Memorial walk was held on the Saturday afternoon from
Western Park. This informal tribute to Peter attracted a good number of
walkers from all States
and was a fitting remembrance to the driving force behind this
Carnival.
Final results are as follows.
